Prompt: Canary, laptop, blanket - From Episode 03

Charles gingerly removed the blanket from the cage he’d carried all this way. The chirping began anew. Shrill and piercing in the dark coolness of the mine tunnel. He reached into his satchel and removed a laptop, powering it up with his meaty thumb. The screen glowed and then went Blue. The chirping stopped, silence was deafening, he glanced at the bird, now incapacitated on the floor of the cage. He didn’t have long now. His larger lungs gave him some protection but unless he could log on and reset the pipe controls, he would soon suffocate too and join the choir invisible.

Prompt: Choose between a pair of Tweezers, a Pencil, or a Playing card - From Episode 4

The child sat cross legged, staring with doleful eyes. The stench of smoke and the smut of ash was all about her. She huddled into the foil blanket she’d been given. Bereft and alone, her family lost to the flames. By her side a charred great dane, nursing an injured paw. I walked over to her, her aura beckoning me. I opened the pouch by my side and laid in front of here some tweezers, a 2hb pencil and the ace of spades. “Choose” I said. She did. She was the one. Now I just had to get her out of there and back to the abbey to start her training.
