Prompt: The Day The Crayons Quit - From Episode 08

“I was there the day the Crayons quit.”

I know what you are thinking, what does a children's artistic instrument have anything to do with what I am talking about? Well I need to set the record straight, the Crayons were in fact the city’s greatest defence force; purely due to their colourful outfits.

It’s the year 200 AB (After Bomb) and most of the world has been blown off the map; the population that is left have grouped together in order to survive. For the past 5 years I have served the The Hack Militia in the area of London that used to be known as Hackney. I’m what’s called a ‘Mag Man’ which literally has me running delivering ammo to all the soldiers on duty. It’s a tiring job but at least I get my steps in, whatever that means. The Crayons were the best; everyone wants to join the Crayons, they earned their rep by holding back the Sentinels from the Holy Town of Dagenham and managed to stop the Ministers during the annual Elections Day.

The only problem is, we overworked them. One day they left, leaving only a note that said “We quit!”
